University of California, Medical Center (USCF) is the well-recognized hospitals in the United States wherein the UCSF ranked seventh in the overall medical center in the US in 2019 by the U.S News and World Report. UCSF was opened in 1907 at the site of Parnassus Heights, on Mount Sutro with 75 beds. The UC Hospital was officially renamed as the “University Of California Medical Centre” in 1949. UCSF was the first comprehensive cancer center in Northern California since 1999 where the medical center expanded in Mission Bay and joined a new medical center with three new hospitals. UCSF merged with Mount Zion Hospital in 1990. UCSF received a commitment of $500 million for the construction of a new hospital in 2018 which would be built at Parnassus by replacing the Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute. Jennifer Doudna, professor and Lab faculty scientist wins the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2020. The diversity of UCSF enhances the ability of its employees to achieve the University’s core missions.
