About Unit Coordinator

What does an Unit Coordinator do?

We, as Unit Coordinators, facilitate, coordinate, and supervise clinical and operational components of the inpatient program. We provide and monitor the continuity of inpatient unit services. We coordinate all activities of the assigned inpatient unit. Supervising orientation and disciplinary interventions is also our responsibility. We prepare staff schedules. We ensure adequate coverage of the unit at all times. We facilitate patient flow through the unit. We are responsible for achieving productivity targets and budget compliance. We also assist providers and ensures the availability of needed supplies.

Core tasks:

  • responsible for the physical maintenance of the unit
  • request necessary repairs or services from the Environmental Services or Administrator
  • provide assistance to the professional nursing staff to optimize patient care
  • conduct a clinical review of treatment planning for clients
  • instruct staff and ensure compliance with standards
  • ensure the Maintenance of client service records
  • consult with Administrator to develop policies and procedures for the inpatient unit
