University of California (UCLA) was established in 1919 as the Southern Branch of the University of California. UCLA’s professor Andrea Ghez is honored with the Nobel Prize in Physics for her pathfinding research on the Milky Way’s supermassive black hole. The UCLA college and 12 professional schools offer more than 5000 courses in a wide range of undergraduate majors,master’s programs,doctoral and professional programs and minors. The budget of UCLA is approximately $7.5 billion. UCLA granted 13,754 degrees during the 2017-18 academic year. UCLA is the leading Arts and Cultural center in the Western United States hosting more than 1,000 visual and performing Arts events each year and is attracting more than 500,000 patrons.
