University of California, Santa Cruz (UC Santa Cruz or UCSC) is a public land-grant academic university and research centre, and a part in the University of California System. The University was established in 1965, with a vast campus that extends across 2001 acres, located at the edge of the coastal community part of Santa Cruz. Cynthia Larive heads the institute as its Chancellor. The university houses 37 independent facilities dedicated to mainly five academic divisions: Arts, Engineering, Humanities, Physical & Biological Sciences and Social Sciences that offer 65 graduate programs, 64 undergraduate majors and 41 minors. The University is currently home to 19000 students, who opted to its perfect regiment program that has global recognition. The University's academic staff of world renowned scientists and Nobel laureates progressed effectively to rank UC Santa Cruz among the top 50 public universities in the United States by the Center for World University Rankings.
