Founded in 1927 and led by President Renu Khator, the University of Houston (UH) is a well-known public research university in Houston that ranks third largest university in Texas. In 2018, 46,324 students have been enrolled under its 261 undergraduate and graduate academic programs whereas the university UH awards over 10,000 degrees annually and has more than 285,000 alumni. UH is international in character with students from over 130 nations. The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredited University of Houston to award baccalaureate, master's, professional and doctoral degrees. UH has been classified as a Tier One institution for Highest Research Activity by the Carnegie Foundation. Not only this, UH is also one among 300 institutions countrywide to receive the Foundation's highest designation as a community-engaged university. A Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Tony Award winners and 18 members of the National Academies of Science and Engineering are the faculty members of the University.
