The University of New Mexico (UNM) is a public research university which was established on February 28, 1889, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It offers bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and professor degree programs and its campus encompasses over 600 acres and its branch campuses are in Gallup, Los Alamos, Rio Rancho, Taos, and Los Lunas. The university provides a wide variety of academic programs with the help of 12 colleges and schools and these academic options include 215 plus degree and certificate programs which includes 94 baccalaureate, 71 masters and 37 doctoral degrees. UNM spent $251 million on research and development in 2018 by ranking 94th in the nation according to the National Science Foundation. It has been always giving effort to reduce the campus energy usage through monitoring and retrofitting, cooling, heating water, and lighting technologies in order to promote sustainability and lessen the environmental impact of the campus.
