United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is the fundamental in-house research agency. In USDA’s Research, Education and Economics mission area, ARS is one of the four agencies and it is charged with extending the nation’s scientific knowledge and solving agricultural problems with the help of its four national program areas such as nutrition, food safety and quality, animal production and protection. The company was established on November 2, 1953 with its headquarters based in Washington D.C. The main focal point of the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is on research to develop solutions to agricultural problems and offer information access and dissemination to ensure high quality and safe food. ARS research counterparts the work of state colleges and universities, agricultural experiment stations, other federal and state agencies, and the private sector and it centers on solving problems which affect Americans everyday. With the help of scientific journals, technical publications, Agricultural Research magazine, and other forums, ARS disseminates much of its research results.
