The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is an American government agency that protect the health of all Americans by offering essential human services. The mission of the HHS is to increase the health of all Americans by offering effective health and human services and by promoting sciences underlying medicine and public health. HHS programs are being implemented through the Office of the Secretary, Operating Divisions and Regional Offices. Many HHS-funded services are conducted at the local level by state or county agencies or the private sector. HHS consists of 11 operating divisions out of them eight agencies in the U.S. Public Health Service and three agencies in human services. Divisions of the HSS administer health and human services and conduct quality research for the country. The Secretary, chief policy officer and general manager of the HSS Office administer and oversee the programs and activities of HSS.
