Too many unions and too political. Promotions base on how big of trouble you can raise and not enough on qualifications.

Custodian Janitor
Alameda, CA - December 29, 2023
worked for USPS as costodian, 1 of 4 at Alameda, Ca-laziest bunch i've ever had to work with, minimal effort, entire building neglected, branches we serviced were falling apart, and others were resentful that i was showing initiative because they'd have to do more work. tried 9 times for promotion, was given extremely unrealistic challenges-Zero sick days for 2 years before eligible to promote, no faults whatsoever with standards while carriers and supervisors would go out of their way to impede and disrupt cleaning and floor work, to the point of stepping onto freshly waxed floors so they'd have to be redone. Went back to work DA Civilian at Dept of the Army rather than keep working USPS due to threats, attempted intimidation, slashed tires and non addressed issues of similar nature.
Pros and Cons
decent pay-at the time, was $16/hr.
limited parking, employee friction, supervisor friction, threats from carriers

The US Postal Service does not provide nor encourage employee engagement with employees. It doesn't matter what capacity or level of employment. Employee engagement goes a long way when communicating. Employee engagement increases the morale of the work environment which increases the chances of improving the working relationship between manager and employee and enhances the success of a productive company.
Pros and Cons
good salary and benefits
Company exhibit th the workload, salary, and upward mobility within the organition.

Upper management doesn’t respect or acknowledge the work that leveler management contributed to the organization. There is a lot of favoritism and nepotism that also happens with this organization. They allow employees to come to work under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, and other recreational drugs and do nothing about it because the union will get the employee job back.
Pros and Cons
Benefits are the only pros
The organization as a whole

rural Mail Carrier
Pasco, WA - November 3, 2021
On the hottest day of the year, people were told to drink plenty of water and take rest breaks, but any rest breaks caused employee to be reprimanded and given a cut in pay. Vehicles do not have air conditioning and 120 degree heat is not safe to remain outdoors with no air conditioning for over 10 hours straight.
Pros and Cons
Independence, ability to work outdoors.
See story above about unsafe conditions.

I enjoyed working as a Post Master Relief. Even though it was only a part time job other local post offices geard of the job i was doing and began to call me to cover when the post master needed a day off. I ended up working at 5 different post offices and it became a full time before i knew it.
Pros and Cons
Plenty of room for advancement.
I worked in small rural area post offices so i was generally there by myself.

Clerk and Administrative Assistant
Oshkosh, WI - June 12, 2021
I worked for the USPS for almost 23 years. I started out as a PTF doing various clerk jobs and working on the dock loading unloading mail. I became Full Time and worked on the Letter Sorting Machine (LSM) sorting mail for the city of Appleton as well as all the cities in the 549 zip code area. Later on I was promoted to Management and became the Confidential Secretary to the Plant Manager where I worked my last 9 years. I also had the opportunity to go out on various details to other offices where I worked for 2 - 6 months in each. I was able to gain experience as a Customer Service Rep, a Carrier Supervisor and a Window Supervisor which was what I enjoyed the most.
Pros and Cons
Opportunities to advance and try other positions with in the organization.
Union Issues because of poor leadership. Poor Upper management decisions.

City Letter Carrier
St Louis, MO - May 7, 2021
I worked there for 26 years, primarily since I was a single parent. The job I had was as a letter carrier. The job itself just involved paying close attention to the street names(exact), street numbers, names, move-ins and move outs For the most part, the job was okay, in that you got exercise, a workout without being a workout, definitely customer service face to face. Management was the biggest problem, since many supervisors were not properly trained, and didn't always use common sense, due to pressure from above
Pros and Cons
Great pay, opportunity, if you seek it, meeting lots of acquaintances, uniform allowance
Some mandatory overtime, rotating days off, poor management training, exposure to all weather
