Utilization Management Coordinator

In the role of Utilization Management Coordinator, we make decisions that can increase efficiency in the delivery of quality health care services. We are responsible for controlling service-improvement programs. We identify and implement ways to improve the health care facility’s services. It is our responsibility to manage the clinical reviews of admission. We ensure advocacy for patient care with managed care organizations. We are responsible for having a full understanding of the needs of the patient. We work with the treatment team in the assessment, planning, implementation, and coordination of care and discharge planning.

Core tasks:

• supervise the treatment team meetings
• ensure fulfillment of requirements of admission, continued stay, and ongoing needs of the patient and support system
• train the nursing staff to use nursing facilities in compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines
• prepare and implement care procedures
• monitor the performance of the hospital team to ensure compliance
