Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) was formed in 1968 after the merger of Medical College of Virginia and Richmond Professional Institute. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission of Colleges has accredited VCU to award baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The college today upholds 30,103 students along with 18:1 student-faculty ratio, 2,551 full-time faculty and 24,234 employees. The college is dedicatedly providing a safe and supportive environment to explore, create, learn, and serve whereas VCU is the only Virginia school to offer health professions, dentistry, medicine, nursing and pharmacy and one of the top-ranked public graduate arts schools. VCU is among Top 100 National Science Foundation research universities, VCU has been awarded $25 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to lower the cost of lifesaving drugs.
