What does a Visual Merchandiser do?

As Visual Merchandisers, we plan and develop appealing visual displays for retail outlets. As imaginative and innovative designers, we apply expertise in graphic design and space utilization to increase the aesthetic value of window displays, sidewalks, counters and in-store displays. Some of us use visual merchandising concepts to turn window shoppers into prospects by driving branding and sales goals. We produce creative visual merchandising approaches by identifying, planning, and executing professional experience. We make visually pleasing and eye-catching displays that guide customers through the shop.

Core tasks:

  • create eye-catching visual displays
  • define, plan and fully implement creative visual merchandising techniques
  • evaluate critical messages and develop a clear idea of the end result
  • organize production and train workers on how to set up displays
  • communicate with sellers and suppliers
