I prefer structure and processes when it comes to a multi billion dollar company. Walmart doesn’t have this. Too much multi tasking of many positions but no pay increases ever.

Pros and Cons
If you need a fill in job while waiting for a real job, this is the one then!
Bad Corp leadership, and really bad store management!

Most of the coaches were helpful, but one of them was disrespectful to me every chance she had. She treated me like I was dumb and talked poorly behind my back. As an example, I asked her for help and instead of being nice about it, she gave me an ugly look, took 15 minutes to help me with a customer because she was gossiping to her coworker friends, then when she did come around she was completely disrespectful to me and the customer. Way too much drama overall. One of the reasons I was happy to leave

Depends on the shift you work; 1st and 2nd shift are easier shifts even though there are lots of customers. When it comes to 3rd shift, we get to do the job of all three shifts, and you are pushed to get it done. They actually push the people that actually work and leave the slackers alone. These slackers walk around, leave early, talk and play on their phones all night.

Pros and Cons
Walmart is not going anywhere so if you need a job it is the place to go.

My experience with Walmart included nepotism, favoritism, and an expectation that my schedule could just be changed without asking me first. It didn't take them long after I went full time to find a reason to let me go while others (part-timers) who constantly break the rules (on their phones, repeatedly not calling out when they're sick, extra/extended breaks, not really doing the job, etc) were kept on the roster. This isn't Sam Walton's Walmart. You will be just a miserable and unappreciated cog in the machine. They also make big talk of inclusivity but make no effort to support LGBTQIA+ employees who are berated, made fun of or bullied by other employees and customers. At least that was what I witnessed at the location where I worked.

Pros and Cons
Measly 10% discount on not much of what a Super Walmart offers and a free Walmart+ membership.
You will not be treated as a human. You are just a number to them.

Worked there almost a year, didn't like certain things that the team leads or coach was making us do as front end cashiers and I was going to work every morning or afternoon just hating my job! I emailed Walmart ethics with my concerns I had and I ended up getting interviewed by ethics at Walmart for 1 hours and they listened to my concerns and I was right, Walmart was wrong with what they had us do and next thing you know I get fired 3 days later halfway thru my shift how unprofessional first off and second they said it was due to my points I had? Ya right! All of a sudden they fire me due to my points I don't think so I had those points prior to my interview so they retaliated and discriminated on me and got rid of their problem which was me. They didn't want to be caught doing anymore wrong and if I voiced those concerns I had in the first place then I would have voiced more of I noticed them so they removed "me" their problem.

Pros and Cons
100% free online schooling or college, 401k, Walmart stock purchase option.
Lazy people, messy store, team leads coaches and management shouldn't even have their job title!

Wal-Mart is an excellent employer for people who need a jump-start in employment, people with disabilities who don’t need much medical attention or have other resources, or people who just want a steady job with little stress. They accommodate your schedule. It’s an excellent introduction for new workers. However, health benefits do take at least 90 days of work to kick in. (Not 90 days, but 90 days working, so that’s 18 weeks or over 4 months based on a full time schedule.) A plus is that once you’ve been employed by them for a certain time, if you have to quit for whatever reason, they will take you back after a while (6 months I was told). So, if you need to move for whatever reason, you could apply at the Walmart in your new hometown. They will help fund your education and professional development, and they do promote from within, so a person can make a career there.

Pros and Cons
Opportunities for education and career development are available for at discounted prices.
Benefits can take a long time to begin.

Starting my job at Walmart was awesome. The hiring team were very patient and quick! I loved coming in the morning 4am to 1pm and our CAP team was amazing! We all got along as a strong team and knocked out the tasks that were on hand. Our team lead was amazing as well she recognized out hard work and shared it with others that were higher than her! She always helped out. And always told others how fast, efficient, determined I was. I always finished my tasks and loved learning new things around the store! Other team leads I noticed took advantage of there team and were lazy. I get that when you move up you don't have to do much but make sure your team is all working together. But they know how it felt being a stocker and working so hard you would think they would get there hands dirty with us and show us more appreciation.

Pros and Cons
Pay, Hour lunches, 15 min breaks, employees, my team lead, learning alot from Walmart

In this company it is what you expected from a corporation not very flexible work hours and you no paid vacations you have to work over 40 hr a week to get one hour of PTO and that is personal time off you don't get paid for how many hours of PTO you have put in and even then you will get denied on your requests of PTO. You do not get holiday pay and you have to work every holiday besides Christmas and Thanksgiving which they just added. Also you cannot get any overtime you also don't get paid any extra for getting overtime it is just your baseline pay for example if you make 11$ an hour that is how much you get paid in overtime if you can get it. Lastly, if you are not in the hire ups group then you will get mistreated and the ones in there group get special treatment. To put it in easy terms they hierarchy is playing favorites.

There were several different managers that never agreed on the rules/expectations so you never knew what was expected/correct. Management worked hard to prevent moving up in the company by “coaching” you on anything they could think of when you applied for a promotion. It’s fine for a first job paycheck wise but consider it a temporary job or you’ll go insane. No one cares about you as a person they consider you replaceable and let you know it.

Pros and Cons
Decent pay for first job
Poor treatment and conflicting opinions from management.

I worked at a walmart supercenter for 14 years, and it was a great place to work till it wasn't. I understand Walmart is retail, and retail is always changing, but they scarficed the employees over the bottom dollar. There is no incentive to do anything there, and the raises are a joke now. It's just a paycheck now for most people. They work you as if you were 3 different people.

Pros and Cons
Meet a lot of different peoplw and amazing customers
Benefits taken away, working every holiday and weekends, no seniority. They work you extra hard.

I enjoyed my work but management was was bad. I left because had me working until 12 Midnight and opening the next day 5AM ... when I said something to management about this he told me either I did the work they needed or they would find someone else. So I walked out.

Pros and Cons
Work was fairly easy , enjoyed the people I worked with, and customers were nice

Not a good place to work, employees and lead staff are over worked and over looked by upper management. Can't keep help and the HR manager does not know how to do her job properly and she doesn't care about the 3rd shift staff. She does not have an open door policy because she is never around for the 3rd shift staff, won't return phone calls or text messages

Pros and Cons
none, there are no perks for working at walmart
over worked, under paid and no tahnk yous what so ever for hard work

Walmart is discriminatory and allows for management to retaileat against employees the corporation and management codone this practice and behaviors from supervisors and I'm disgusted that I worked my ass off for such people with no morals values or integrity I was wrongfully terminated and now they are holding up my unemployment with more tricks and retaileating behaviors they believe there above the law and were not allowed to voice are rights without punishment and childish behaviors from management that's my story and believe me every bit is true I don't even want to shop there and give them not one penny it was that horrible

Pros and Cons
I learned a lot

I worked at walmart from feb 2019 to december 2019. As far as production in my department, i ranked at the top. I didnt have any attendance issues or anything, until early october. I never had asthma, yet i suddenly began to have severe symptoms of asthma. I was not "fulltime" although i never worked less tham 40 hrs the entire time id been there, so i didnt have health insurance. The ER was my only option for medical care, and in my last 2 months of employment i went 4 times. They couldnt figure it out. Nothing in my xrays showed up, but i wasnt responding to the medications anymore (steroids). My supervisor showed no remorse. I was near passing out from low oxygen, literally seeing stars and having tunnel vision and all she had to say was "do you have your inhaler?" I ended up losing my job due to tardiness. I filed for unemployment was approved (pending) and for almost a year was compliant. The review came and my supervisor lied about everything. I appealed but it did no good.

Pros and Cons
Paid time off earned by time working
they work you full time hours as parttime employee to avoid giving benefits

The company as a whole has lost the vision and mission of Sam Walton. The pay is low, the stress is high, and they do not provide you with the tools to do your position well. Attendance is absolutely mandatory even with the death of a close family member. The opportunities for advancement are limited to only becoming a Department Head let alone any achievement into store management. There is no growth and only stagnation.

Pros and Cons
Employment when you can't find anything else.
Stated above.

If you had to describe your work day at Walmart to someone, what would you say?
avatar-of-creator
My typical day started off with my clocking in (EXACTLY on time - one second early or late got me in trouble), then reporting to the work station. If the previous shift had left me any problems, then I needed to deal with it before I could start with my chores (while dealing with the customers). The company would give me five minutes to deal with a fifteen minute problem (not counting the delays caused by customers) as a result, I would always be behind in my duties. If by some strange chance I managed to get everything done, I would then be able to leave. Hopefully, I would be able to sign out on time, since if I signed out either one second early or late that would count against me.
