Walt Disney Company Company Reviews and Ratings
Cast member in entertainment
Orlando, FL - September 25, 2024
Upon coming Florida looking for a teaching position I applied at WDW for a job to make some type of income. I was accepted into the music department and played everyday in a bras group, band, marching group whatever was needed. It was a great experience working with some of the best musicians on the. East coast in situations that exposed you to people you would have never been around ever. The amount of training, supervision, opportunities to move to about to other groups was was great.
Pros and Cons
Training, exposure to great opportunities, good pay and. Benefits. Great culture and atmosphere
A large amount of working hours, having to be conscious of taking care of very rude visitors,

Wow, this sounds like a great opportunity! Can you tell me more about the work-life balance and how you managed interacting with difficult visitors?

There were attempts made to bring in people of color but there was no real support once onboarded with breaking the barriers that so often ostracize the newcomers that look different and don't fit the demographic of the masses. It was a sad situation for me but in time I think the right leaders will be put in place to combat the opposition to the changes required to grow the company and increase the diversity of the human resources.
Pros and Cons
entertainment benefits
the overall culture wasn't very culturally diverse

Disney was a fun place to work on many levels, but after the purchase of Fox Studios and Covid, the company is in complete disarray. There are constant Org changes and policies change at the whim of any public outcry. Leadership cares nothing other than what makes themselves look good and no one has any company allegiance as many top executives come and go. The only people who do care passionately about the company are the low level employees who don't mind advancing their career and make a decent living for years on end.
Pros and Cons
There were many pros of working for Disney years ago, but all of them are long gone.
Little to no chance of advancement and layoffs happen every few years.

It’s a lot fun being front desk/ podium attendant at the WDW in Orlando, FL and dealing with guests all over the world, and the do workers too. A fun place to be.
Pros and Cons
Discounts all over the parks
If you aren’t a people’s person then it’s not the place for you.

Food Beverage Associate
Orlando, FL - January 15, 2022
In 2014 I moved to Orlando, Florida to work at Disneyworld through an internship with my college at the time. I worked in the Outdoor Food and Beverage department at Hollywood Studios for about 8 months and truly loved every minute of it. I loved the diversity among the staff as well as the customers and how each day was a little different. I learned so much about customer satisfaction and how to balance the key elements of a successful experience for everyone involved.
Pros and Cons
Free admittance to all of the Disney parks, backstage access and tours, meeting tons of new people
The only one would’ve been feeling interchangeable, but it was an internship program

Know your rights as a worker. The Union is there to protect your job. As a former steward I saw too many good people go.
Remember each location is different with management. Some places are great and some places management fails the team. It’s just reality in a magical bubble.
Remember when guest are rude they may have been stressed by a previous encounter. Try to be patient and realize it’s not you and try to diffuse the situation and you will see they will apologize and explain themselves. Practice patience and empathy. Know when to involve management.
Once you get beyond that it’s quite fun and such an easy job. It was too easy for me. I needed a challenge but found it difficult to move up. It’s easy to move laterally but very difficult to go up in my opinion.
I wish there was more opportunity to move up or explore new options to move up instead of constant lateral movement. I felt I wasn’t utilized to my best abilities and found my mental health waning due to boredom of job.
Pros and Cons
Great health benefits, 15/hr, and easy availability for time off
Can be stressful, work holidays

Reservation Agent
Orlando, FL - May 20, 2021
I worked full time until the last year when I had to work part-time due to my husband's needs. My favorite manager is still there, I think. Her name is Donna Murphy. We had a helper number we could call if we'd been asked a question we didn't know the answer to. The person I called for my client gave me a negative answer. Lucky for me I was being monitored that day and Donna let me call the guest back and give a positive answer to the request. I received an award while working there and proudly display the statue of Walt. I would go back to working at Disney Reservations in a heartbeat, but family needs here in Daytona and now being a Widow make the move from my home really difficult.
Pros and Cons
We were so well trained and welcomed to work daily by our managers, they truly helped.
The drive to work on I-4 every day.
