racial biases work environment

1.0
Receptionist - Frankfort, KY - June 30, 2021
I worked there for my last semester in college and I resigned due to being racially targeted by my supervisor. My hours weren't consistent, I was constantly put on closing shift knowing that I didn't have transportation and the city didn't have nightly, public transportation. They also didn't give me any type of keys for me to close the building I had to leave out from the parking garage because that was the only door that self locked.

Personal Trainer - Jacksonville, FL - June 18, 2021
They love to constantly look for reasons to reprimand you. They enjoy finding ways to add extra duties without any compensation. They care nothing about life work balance. They had me working 7 days a week for 31 hours at one point. Split shifts at that. I’d open for a few hours, then wait all day to come back and close.

Productive but less than desirable supportive workplace

2.4
Licensed Massage Therapist - Hoover, AL - May 17, 2021
Temporary part time fill-in position while other staff massage therapist on leave. Many opportunities I enjoyed providing massage for members, but I felt I had to leave due to lack of support from management. Hostile workplace environment developed which compromised my ability to book appts. at times needed, plus I was switched to different hours on certain days that many of my new clients could not accommodate. Hourly salary was below a fair amount, even though I had more training and experience that staff therapist I was filling in for. Reason given for low salary was that I was not published author, which had no bearing on my ability to perform well. I received many compliments from clients. Front desk support staff was accusatory with false reports given to management, however often they failed to let me know an appt. was cancelled or rescheduled until later. I was told in the beginning that "the front desk staff can make you or break you". Politics was at play, sorry to say.

Fitness Instructor Personal Trainer - New Orleans, LA - April 11, 2021
It's a great beginning job for a college student, someone, out of college, and someone just getting started in the fitness world. It's also a good place if you're looking for an evening job to supplement your income. If you are a professional fitness person with more than 7 years under your belt this is a dead-end job. The pay is less than the local gyms. There are no perks working there.

Summer Camp Counselor - Lakewood, WI - March 23, 2021
The camp was a lot of fun to work for, yet the information that was shared was not always accurate unless it came from the boss. I found myself feeling shameful for having any problem at all, because when I told one person and asked them to keep it between us, that did not happen. It was a fun summer, but it would have been more fun without all the drama and support that was shown was not authentic.
