About Youth Services Specialist

What does a Youth Services Specialist do?

As Youth Services Specialists, we are professional members of the childcare team in the community outpatient service agencies or hospitals. We provide social services and assistance to help improve the social wellbeing of children and their families and to ensure that the child is at their best form in school. We help parents monitor the progress of their children and advise them accordingly based on the child's ability. We also help arrange for adoption to parents who want to adopt a child by examining various situations including how the parent's relationship with the child. We find foster homes for abandoned children or those being abused.

Core tasks:

  • act as child’s advocate by talking to health professionals on matters that the child fears to
  • advice the childcare team
  • assist parents to arrange for adoption
  • address problems that may arise in school dealing with student’s behaviors
