Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) is a leading local authority with a highly regarded YC Hertfordshire (YCH) service which delivers targeted prevention and early intervention youth work projects and programmes.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and imaginative Youth Support Worker in Charge to lead and deliver new projects in the area particularly in Welwyn Hatfield. You will be expected to work with vulnerable young people who are at risk through anti-social behaviour to engage them in projects, 1-1 work and high quality informal education opportunities which promote their personal and social development.

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with young people delivering programmes to develop their confidence, self-esteem; learn new skills and bring about positive changes in behavior You will be expected to supervise a small team of youth support workers and volunteers therefore experience of line managing staff is desirable.

You will be expected to work two or three regular evenings a week depending on your contracted hours, of which one will either be a Friday or Saturday evening. You will need to be able to travel around the county; therefore access to a vehicle is desirable. In order to support you in the role, we will provide you with both initial and ongoing training.

IT skills are essential as you will be required to record data on relevant management information systems, produce reports and correspondence as required.

You will need to be required to work daytime, evenings and weekends as agreed with your line manager. You will need to be able to travel around the area and county; therefore access to a vehicle is desirable.
