POSITION SUMMARY:

Essential Functions of Lineman:
As a journeyman lineman you will install, maintain and repair all transmission and distribution electrical systems and associated equipment, both overhead and underground, while utilizing line trucks, aerial booms, helicopters, ladders, lifts and wire pulling equipment. Maintenance of lines and services will require pole climbing, hot sticking, and working out of truck mounted buckets and lifts to construct, repair or maintain line equipment or string, splice and sag wire on live or dead circuits. Operate switches, cutouts and use grounding devices to work on de-energized lines and equipment. You may train and direct the work of a trainee in the trade.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Class A- Lineman must have a CDL and Medical Card.
Qualified to work on energized or de-energized circuits as required without direct supervision. Allowed to work alone as well as direct the work of Class B Linemen in the air. A Class A Lineman may work aloft by himself or with other linemen or qualified apprentices. Minimum 3 years formal training, certificate of completion of formal training or 8 years on the job training. Linemen must provide assistance during emergencies and be CPR certified.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Understand all lineman responsibilities.
Self-motivated individual with a desire to learn and advance
Willing to perform rigorous physical labor including but not limited to digging trenches to lay conduit or moving and lifting heavy objects
U. S. Citizen or possess the legal right to work in the U.S.
Must be able to pass pre-employment substance abuse testing (Drug/Alcohol)
Must be able to pass background check

About the Journeyman Lineman role

Maintenance / Repair - Other Journeyman Lineman

As Journeyman Linemen, we are responsible for working on power lines originating from power plants. We perform maintenance on power lines and repair electrical cables as required. We work in utility companies, energy companies, or telecommunication companies and install transmission and distribution lines between power plants and homes. We read and interpret electrical wiring signals and diagrams. Digging trenches to repair or maintain electrical cables is part of our daily responsibilities. We install electricity meters at residential homes and offices and perform inspections to prevent power outages. Working as Journeyman Linemen, we replace or repair electrical components and troubleshoot power outages with electrical lines and wires. We also attend to call-outs and perform repairs in an efficient and timely manner.
