Job Description

Ashfield Engage is recruiting a Head of US Commercial Operations directly for Synairgen, an agile, pioneering and fast-growing specialist respiratory biotech company. Synairgen's primary focus is developing SNG001 (inhaled interferon beta) to meet the urgent need for the treatment of COVID-19 as potentially the first host-targeted broad-spectrum antiviral treatment delivered directly into the lungs. As global leaders in developing ex-vivo lung tissues to advance respiratory research, the company is also exploring the use of SNG001 in other serious viral lung infections. Synairgen is led by a team of industry experts and world-renowned academics, dedicated to creating pandemic-ready respiratory treatments we can all believe in. Synairgen is quoted on the London Stock Exchange's AIM (LSE: SNG).

The Head of US Commercial Operations is responsible for managing all aspects of a commercial launch and establishing as well as maintaining key relationships with Ashfield and contract teams.

What will you be doing?

  • Developing and executing commercial operational pre/ launch plans
  • P&L responsibilities
  • Developing and executing Marketing strategy for home office and field-based teams
  • Responsible for business conduct of Customer's direct employees
  • Responsible for implementation of pricing strategy in partnership with Head of Pricing and Market Access
  • Serve as key organizational leader, decision-maker regarding business planning, forecasting, resource allocation, etc., and subject-matter expert on product distribution and reimbursement
  • Influence, collaborate and work with cross-functional leaders, departments, and teams to develop and execute successful strategies (finance, marketing, sales, medical affairs etc.)
What do you need for this position?
  • Bachelor's degree or comparable experience
  • A minimum of 15 years' progressively responsible commercial pharmaceutical experience
  • Requires 7 or more years' directly and progressively responsible experience related to the managed care industry, including negotiations with commercial and public plans, and a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role
  • US experience in Commercial launches of novel therapeutics, ideally in the COVID/ respiratory/ anti-viral therapy areas.
  • Demonstrated success building organizations and creating and leading high-performing teams
  • A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork required to build trust and to establish good working relationships between marketing, sales, operations, finance, etc.
  • Must have flexibility and the ability to adapt to the fast changing & high profile internal and external environments.
  • Must be adept at organization, planning & execution to manage sales process optimization programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous implementation of CRM software and a driver for automation
  • Presentation skills required to represent Synairgen in front of health care organizations, clinical personnel, and customer decision-makers
  • Decision making & problem-solving skills
  • Negotiation and business skills
  • Effective conflict resolution
  • Analytical & problem-solving skills & ability to multitask
  • Willingness to travel (up to 50%)
