Summary

The Flight Ops Instructor Ground (FOI-G) is the initial instructor position in AmeriJet International Airlines Flight Operations Training Department. Becoming a FOI-G is the proven path to becoming an Amerijet International First Officer, Flight Instructor, Captain and leader.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Include the following, but not limited to:

Primary ground instructor for pilot initial new hire basic indoctrination training in the classroom environment
Provide support, facilitation, and instruction for ground training courses for pilots
Facilitate courses including general subjects, pilot indoctrination, performance, and aircraft systems, in both a classroom setting and utilizing flight training devices such as a Flight Training Device (FTD)
Develops and maintains lesson plans, instructor guides, and curriculum for classroom, home based, and computer based training
Administrates computer based training to ensure the training is adequate for the type training for which they are used
Perform administrative duties to include but not limited to: 1) Developing, administering and grading exams; 2) Producing accurate and complete rosters and training records
Coordinate with other company trainers on standardized information.
Professional development and other related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

College Degree
Boeing 757 & 767 knowledge and experience or type rating preferred
ETOPS and International operations experience preferred
Experience in curriculum design for adult learning preferred

Required Knowledge

Must have the appropriate knowledge, experience, and demonstrated ability to instruct crewmembers or aircraft dispatchers in curriculum segments other than flight training.

Required experience

At least one (1) year experience as an Instructor (CFI, Ground, Simulator, Evaluator or Examiner) in an accredited university flight training program or an approved part 121 or 135 training program.

Physical activities and requirements of this position

Physically and mentally demanding work environment with a high degree of confidentiality.
Knowledge and use of computers for weather briefs, email correspondence, and other information is important.
During a typical shift, you may rotate between teaching ground or conducting flight sessions when qualified as a Flight instructor.
Ability to work shifts as scheduled as well as additional hours including evenings, weekends and holidays

Travel

Must be able and willing to travel to domestic; sometimes requiring overnight stay’s for up to four weeks at a time.

Tasks

Work as part of a flight team with other crew members, especially during takeoffs and landings.

Use instrumentation to guide flights when visibility is poor.

Start engines, operate controls, and pilot airplanes to transport passengers, mail, or freight, adhering to flight plans, regulations, and procedures.

Contact control towers for takeoff clearances, arrival instructions, and other information, using radio equipment.

Monitor gauges, warning devices, and control panels to verify aircraft performance and to regulate engine speed.

Respond to and report in-flight emergencies and malfunctions.

Steer aircraft along planned routes, using autopilot and flight management computers.

Check passenger and cargo distributions and fuel amounts to ensure that weight and balance specifications are met.

Monitor engine operation, fuel consumption, and functioning of aircraft systems during flights.

Inspect aircraft for defects and malfunctions, according to pre-flight checklists.

Choose routes, altitudes, and speeds that will provide the fastest, safest, and smoothest flights.

Confer with flight dispatchers and weather forecasters to keep abreast of flight conditions.

Direct activities of aircraft crews during flights.

Brief crews about flight details, such as destinations, duties, and responsibilities.

Order changes in fuel supplies, loads, routes, or schedules to ensure safety of flights.

Record in log books information, such as flight times, distances flown, and fuel consumption.

Make announcements regarding flights, using public address systems.

Perform minor maintenance work, or arrange for major maintenance.

Test and evaluate the performance of new aircraft.

Coordinate flight activities with ground crews and air traffic control and inform crew members of flight and test procedures.

File instrument flight plans with air traffic control to ensure that flights are coordinated with other air traffic.

Conduct in-flight tests and evaluations at specified altitudes and in all types of weather to determine the receptivity and other characteristics of equipment and systems.

Instruct other pilots and student pilots in aircraft operations and the principles of flight.

Plan and formulate flight activities and test schedules and prepare flight evaluation reports.

Load smaller aircraft, handling passenger luggage and supervising refueling.

Evaluate other pilots or pilot-license applicants for proficiency.
