Community Impact's
spring editorial internship
is back! This is an innovative experience for individuals interested in a career in community journalism. For 10 weeks, you'll have the opportunity to work with industry veterans and learn from experienced editors working on storytelling and data-heavy assignments to inform readers in their local communities through the collaboration of a passionate team.
WHAT YOU LL DO
You will learn from industry journalism pros, network and build out your resume ... all in sunny, beautiful Texas. This program will allow interns to experience what it s like in a professional newsroom shadowing reporters and editors, and taking on assignments and projects specific to the markets you ll be working within. Interns will finish the 10-week program with a well-rounded newsroom experience, which will include writing web stories, shadowing reporters at local government meetings, contributing stories to the print product, and writing for our highly-read Impacts and To-do List sections of the paper. You ll also have the opportunities to learn the intricacies of how other departments within the newspaper collaborate to make this a fantastic media company. Community Impact Newspaper serves 26 communities in four major metros ares (Austin, Houston, Dallas-Ft Worth & Phoenix) with the huge plans of growing more than ever in 2019. I have experience writing and editing articles for my school newspaper and have also completed internships at publishing companies where I honed my writing and editing skills.
As Editorial Interns, we strengthen the efforts of community engagement by responding to messages. We pitch novel angles for editorial coverage on popular topics. We make sure sure that all contents are posted across all social media platforms. Researching on content topics is a duty of ours. We check facts to ensure that the sources are reliable. We make contributions to the company’s daily blog. Editorial Interns help photo editors acquire images needed for print articles. We research for information to be implemented in upcoming articles.
