Position Description

The T-45C In-Flight Contract Instructor (ICI) shall provide in-flight Weapon System training to U.S. military personnel, foreign military personnel, government personnel, and Instructor Pilots as required.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Shall be accomplished during scheduled instructional events as described below:

  • Conduct scheduled ICI led/supported in-flight syllabus Training Events for NFSs (including briefs and debriefs) IAW OPNAV and CNATRA Instructions, respective TRAWING STANNOTES/SOPs, local area instructions, and other pertinent guidance. A training event includes, but is not limited to, the following:
    • Briefing students IAW the syllabus event being flown and Training Air Wing SOPs.
    • Assessing the Aircraft Maintenance Data Book in Maintenance control as part of T-45 aircraft preflight. Sign for aircraft and ensure aircraft is certified safe-for-flight prior to takeoff.
    • Evaluate student performance. Debrief students IAW Air Wing SOPs. Complete and submit electronic grade sheet(s) in the approved CNATRA Training or Learning Management System (T/LMS).
    • Evaluate and record T-45 aircraft performance and/or deficiency in the NALCOMIS system IAW established procedures.
  • Conduct Systems Training using traditional and modern tools and technology such as computers, video projectors, overhead projectors, and other multimedia systems, as required.
  • Assess and recommend improvements to training scenarios for effectiveness and currency.
  • Review curriculum; assess and recommend improvements to the training curriculum via the appropriate Air Wing Standardization Officer or Stage Manager.
  • The government will provide the ICI all required equipment and flight gear to perform duties in the T45 C.ICI events may be scheduled to provide instruction to NFSs in all stages of the T-45 syllabi, within the stage qualifications of the individual ICIs at each site.

Position Requirements
  • Have been a T-45 Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) qualified Instructor Pilot (IP),preferably within the preceding five (5) years.
  • Have logged a minimum of 1,000 flight hours as Pilot-in-Command, of which 500 hours were in tactical jet aircraft, strike pipeline jet aircraft, or E-2/C-2 carrier aircraft.
  • Possess a FAA commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transportation Pilot (ATP) Certificate with the appropriate category and class ratings (instrument rating with single engine privileges) (per DCMA Instruction 8210.1C series/NAVAIR Instruction 3710.1 series)
  • Possess, and maintain, a current FAA class 2 medical.
  • Meet the height and weight standards outlined in the T-45 NATOPS manual.


Applicant must meet eligibility requirements to receive and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
