SUMMARY:

The HR/Payroll Manager is responsible for leading and supporting Human Resources initiatives to include: compensation and benefit management, employee relations, policies and procedures, legal compliance, and risk management. This position will work closely with management to provide coaching on HR-related initiatives in support of organizational goals. Ensure compliance and understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws. Responsible for coaching and mentoring two direct reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads, manages, and holds accountable the HR Generalist and Payroll Administrator
  • Develops and implements HR policies and programs in support of company culture and strategies
  • Maintains and enforces HR policies and procedures, and answers questions related to policies and procedures
  • Investigates employee issues and conflicts and works with management to find a resolution
  • Leads Performance Management initiatives including annual performance review training and quarterly conversations
  • Organizes and/or facilitates companywide training (Ex: 401k, Harassment, Reasonable Suspicion, Leadership training, etc.), utilizing the LMS
  • Maintains legal compliance at all branch locations
  • Completes reporting as mandated by state or federal agencies
  • Evaluates pay ranges annually based on market data for each position
  • Maintains leave benefit administration to include short term disability, long term disability, military leave and FMLA
  • Responsible for benefit administration and evaluation and assists in direct interaction/negotiation with benefit providers, including benefit compliance such as ACA Reporting and Non-Discrimination testing
  • Completes 401K Audits and other benefit audits as required
  • Oversees the Payroll Specialist and assists with ensuring pay runs and commissions are processed on time
  • Collaborates with the VP of People & Culture on the payroll system and its efficient flow process and makes recommendations and helps implement updates and programs
  • Understands and utilizes the business intelligence reporting in the HRIS system (UKG Pro) for various reporting
  • Develops and manages the OTJ Training Program, maintains relationships with Veterans Affairs and ensures all paperwork is completed accurately and timely
  • Oversees new hire orientation and onboarding processes ensuring all mandatory forms are completed timely
  • Processes transfer, promotion, and termination paperwork timely and ensures proper approvals are received
  • Works with the Director of Workforce Development in updating/creating job descriptions and posting job openings for certain positions and keeps detailed records of job descriptions
  • Oversees the hiring process, which includes pre-employment checks, process new hires, orientation, and onboarding, as well as assisting management through the interview process
  • Assists in the management of the company’s relocation policy for new and existing employees
  • Assists managers with termination process to include conducting exit interviews
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of People and Culture
Required Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources and 5+ years of recent HR experience or equivalent in experience
  • Must Travel to all branch locations as necessary, must be able to travel into Canada as well
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain an insurable driving record
  • PHR and/or SHRM-CP preferred
  • Must have a positive mental attitude, self-motivated, goal oriented, highly energetic, positive and outgoing.

  • Requires sitting, standing with periodic lifting, walking, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching
  • Requires ability to push, lift, pull, and/or carry 10 lbs. or more
