Ipas is seeking a Major Gifts Officer. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Individual & Major Gifts and is a member of the Individual and Major Gifts Team. This position will build and manage a robust donor/prospect portfolio of individuals committed to, and interested in, investing in women's and girl's reproductive health and rights through their philanthropy. The Officer will be responsible for the direct solicitation of both five-and-six-figure major gifts from individuals across the West Coast, leading and supporting all aspects of prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The Officer will plan and execute fundraising events, as well as facilitate and support appropriate donor interaction with senior organization leaders, comprising executive team members, Board Members, and other colleagues. The Officer will contribute to strategic planning and provide detailed reporting on fundraising activities and results towards goals and objectives. The position traditionally includes approximately 40-50% of domestic travel. Travel restrictions and considerations have been made during the COVID-19 pandemic.
REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree required; CFRE credential preferred
5+ years' experience and demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, and securing major gifts
Strong commitment to Ipas's mission and knowledge of reproductive health programming
Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills
Strong collaborator and team member, able to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, including Board Members and external volunteers
Ability to travel at least 40-50%

Tasks

Identify and build relationships with potential donors.

Write and send letters of thanks to donors.

Write reports or prepare presentations to communicate fundraising program data.

Design or produce materials such as posters, Web sites, or newsletters to promote, market, or advertise fundraising events.

Write speeches, press releases, or other promotional materials to increase awareness of the causes, missions, or goals of organizations seeking funds.

Explain the tax advantages of contributions to potential donors.

Plan and direct special events for fundraising, such as silent auctions, dances, golf events, or walks.

Attend community events, meetings, or conferences to promote organizational goals or solicit donations or sponsorships.

Direct or coordinate Web-based fundraising activities, such as online auctions or donation Web sites.

Develop corporate fundraising programs, such as employer gift-matching.

Secure speakers for charitable events, community meetings, or conferences to increase awareness of charitable, nonprofit, or political causes.

Prepare materials such as fundraising envelopes, bid sheets, or gift bags for charitable events.

Develop and maintain media contact lists.

Coordinate transportation or delivery of materials, supplies, or donations for fundraising events.
