The Sr. Manager will drive execution of global projects to increase program maturity across processes, data and technology. The role will focus on leading projects such as product classification, country of origin and duty optimization programs, export controls & sanctions and metrics. The Sr. Manager will use trade knowledge and experience to educate J&J partners on global trade standards, procedures and corrective actions with a strong focus on proactively advising on changes to regulations and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide trade advisory services in support to functions and segments including acquisition & divestitures, network optimization and duty optimization strategies, product classification and origin, export controls & sanctions.
  • Drive governance and oversight of third party providers to ensure adherence to J&J global compliance standards.
  • Drive awareness and governance of risks through operational performance metrics and facilitate adherence to established and new adoption of processes and tools.
  • Assist with risk assessments & audits efforts, and creation and maintenance of import & export standards, operating procedures and training materials to meet evolving trade regulations and requirements and fit J&J's global business needs.
  • Support execution of trade compliance data and technology projects with special attention to future state business processes to ensure implementation, scalability and sustainability.
  • Partner with JnJ functions and sectors to build trust, influence, empower self and others, practice diversity and inclusion, and make informed and timely decisions.
  • Use project management skills to ensure timely execution of projects, implementation of required capabilities and adoption of new processes/tools/systems.
  • Represent in relevant trade organizations and provide supporting role in analyzing and commenting on any pending regulations, legislations, or trade agreements.
  • Perform all other relevant activities relating to job accountabilities as the need arises.
Education:
  • A Bachelors or equivalent University degree is required with a focus in logistics, supply chain, compliance and/or transportation preferred.
  • Advanced degree strongly preferred with global trade certification desirable.
Required:
  • Minimum of 8 years of direct functional expertise in any of the following areas is required: global trade compliance/operations, regulatory compliance, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience and ability to drive continuous improvement
  • Shown success driving execution of global trade compliance strategies.
  • Prior experience with trade management systems such as SAP GTS, Trade Automation, Thomson Reuters or similar systems.
  • Prior experience using duty preservation strategies to drive cost and compliance objectives.
  • Proven experience working in global organizations.
  • Ability to lead teams, exhibit collaboration skills, negotiate, and influence skills
  • Proven strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
  • Audit skills applied in multinational environment and experience
  • Prior experience working with regulatory agencies and industry peers and companies

Other:

This position may require up to 10% domestic & international travel.
