We, the clinical laboratory assistants, play a supporting role in testing and preparing specimens to use in a medical lab. Our responsibilities include multiple tasks including examining microscopic cells under a microscope; making use of centrifuges to segregate plasma and blood cells; and running disease detection tests using lab equipment that is automated. We, as clinical laboratory assistants, work under a clinical lab technologist. In laboratories that are non-hospital, we help with administrative tasks like responding to phone calls or greeting patients.
