The impact of the coding function on the reimbursement and cash flow of the medical center is significant. One of the major responsibilities of this position is to ensure that individuals performing the radiology coding functions are well trained, maintain their credentials and are continually updated in the current requirements for coding. This includes keeping all radiology site managers and staff updated on annual changes to codes that may impact day-to-day revenue cycle operations. Position is also responsible for physician credentialing for all new radiologists/providers.
High School Diploma required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Minimum three years experience.
CPC required.
Radiology certification preferred.
Must be well versed in idc-9/10 coding and cpt-4 coding.
Radiology terminology/background preferred.
I regularly conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure adherence to coding standards.
We, the coding managers, train and supervise coding staff to make sure the hospital or medical facility obtains adequate reimbursement and adheres to applicable regulations and guidelines. We report to the top management and manage subordinate staff to supervise their day-to-day job performance. We follow up on unpaid claims within standardized billing cycle timeframe.
