Underground Transmission Line Business Unit Regional Manager
POWER Engineers, Inc. is currently accepting applications for an underground transmission Regional Manager (RM) role. The selected RM will report to the Line Business Unit Director.
The Regional Manager position requires an industry-recognized understanding of high voltage and extra high voltage underground transmission systems, strong corporate knowledge, and excellent management and leadership skills. The successful candidate will be required to lead, mentor, and manage the region’s department managers, develop the regional business strategy, heavily contribute to business development efforts, and actively participate on the business unit leadership team.
Roles and Responsibilities
The RM is responsible for operating the region in alignment with business unit, division, and company objectives. The successful candidate will: work with reports to meet recruiting, training, retention, and staff development goals for the departments; support business development and form constructive relationships with internal and external regional clients; oversee the QA/QC process in the region; play an active and essential role on the leadership team helping to develop and execute the overall BU strategy. This position will require travel.
The primary focus is on developing our regional transmission presence, managing project workload, and increasing our technical capabilities. Specifically, this role will assist with the growth and development of the business unit by:
Working to develop new work and clients.
Facilitating POWER’s position as a leading provider of transmission engineering and design in the region.
Being part of the business unit management team helping to run the business unit and form strategies for success.
Being part of the business unit business development team and leading large proposal efforts.
Assisting with identifying and recruiting key individuals to strengthen the technical and management teams.
Development of key contractor and DBE partnerships.
Assisting with office expansion and/or development of new offices as needed.
Regularly spending time in the regional offices.
Mentoring and developing business unit managers, area leads, and next level/future candidates.
Visiting major clients throughout the year.
Developing relationships with PMs and Marketers in the region.
Promoting and participating in our KMP initiative.
Helping to improve and promote our quality process.
Working with reports to promote a safety culture and assure staff have needed safety training and equipment.
Promoting POWER culture.
Ensure that Department Managers are submitting timely information in order to meet the requirements of the Business Unit. Some of these requirements include:

Monitor semi-annual performance reviews for the region to provide consistency across departments.
Review managers’ recommendations in the compensation and bonus review processes for the region to provide consistency across departments and prepare the recommendations for submittal to the BUD.
Assisting with leveling work across the BU.
Assisting with HR issues in the region.
Required Experience and Training
Eighteen (18) + years of high voltage and extra high voltage transmission industry experience
Experience with proposal development
Proven success in developing and maintaining positive client relationships
Proven success as a leader/manager of projects and design teams within POWER
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Industry recognized expertise in all facets of underground transmission
International experience, include factory acceptance testing
Committee participation and leadership in underground transmission technical societies
Desired Qualifications
BS in an engineering field or equivalent experience
Ten (10) years of department management experience preferred
Past participation and/or leadership in relevant Transmission and or other Business Unit initiatives
Strong relationships with leaders and teams in other business units and divisions within POWER
Demonstrated competence in working with multiple departments, Power Delivery business units, project management and other POWER Divisions to deliver successful projects
Knowledge of POWER’s major clients
Completion of Department Manager training courses preferred

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $76k - $188k per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
