responsibilities:
This position will support drug discovery with a focus on cell line maintenance, differentiation and characterization. In addition, the successful candidate will initiate and propagate cell lines, bank and sterility test of newly acquired lines and engineered lines, manage inventory and distribute flasks or cryovials.
The candidate will conduct laboratory procedures in compliance with established protocols and in compliance with regulatory and laboratory requirements. He or she will work closely with other scientists across functional teams, providing critical cell culture support for lead identification and lead optimization programs.
Cell culture media preparation, cell banking and testing
Cell differentiation, transfection and characterization
Cell based assay development and operation
Maintenance and operation of the SelectT and CompacT automated system (TAP)
Management of labware inventory
Distribution of cell flasks and frozen cell vials
qualifications:
A.S. degree with 0-3 years of relevant bench work experience
Hands-on experience in the areas of cell culture, including development of the standard operating procedures for the growth, maintenance and manipulation of contamination-free primary cells and commonly used research cell lines is required.
Excellent aseptic technique is a must. Knowledge of cell line differentiation and characterization is a plus.
Experience with 3D culture and organoids is also a plus.
Experience with Flow Cytometry and laboratory robotics is preferred but not essential.
Familiarity with Excel and Outlook is required.

We, the clinical laboratory assistants, play a supporting role in testing and preparing specimens to use in a medical lab. Our responsibilities include multiple tasks including examining microscopic cells under a microscope; making use of centrifuges to segregate plasma and blood cells; and running disease detection tests using lab equipment that is automated.
