POSITION PURPOSE:

To lead the Asset and Strategy team around terminals, trans loads, and infrastructure which all use various modes of transportation. This Team Lead will lead our infrastructure and strategy team to enhance REG's North American distribution. It is furthermore responsible for assisting in coaching and mentoring of the tanks and terminals team under this specific role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide leadership and coaching to staff and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Identify and track industry benchmarks and key performance indicators for logistics.
  • Assist in the Development and implementation of logistics strategies to support long-term growth plans.
  • Analyze and model all logistics strategies to assure highest profitability for growth.
  • Improve and align logistics processes to optimize product movement to and from refinery/Plants/terminals.
  • Develop process and standards for the team's need.
  • Assist in the development of the department budgets.
  • Assist in the Management / negotiations of departmental contracts.
  • Audit and approve or dispute charges for terminal, demurrage and other charges.
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with all applicable EH&S and operational standards.
  • Leader who actively develops employees to their potential.
Primary Duties:
  • Assist in the evaluation of potential Terminal locations capabilities and how those physical capabilities compare to the current and future needs of REG.
  • Recommend appropriate metrics to measure the projected / actual physical and financial performance of Terminal locations.
  • Negotiations of Infrastructure contracts for the benefit of REG.
  • Work with staff on planning and future planning to ensure efficiency.
  • Work with REG Sales, Procurement and Transportation Staff to monitor the current requirements for optimizing company performance.
  • Oversee and help develop direct reports for the purpose of daily management of REG activity, bring out the best in staff pushing them towards optimal performance while creating an empowering culture.
Analysis:
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Participate in a variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
  • Maintain systems and controls, processes and data.
  • Assist in the hiring, training, development and appraisal of employees.
  • Keep up-to-date on IT affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
  • Assist in Analyzing market conditions making appropriate recommendations.
  • Suggest and implement changes to the strategy as conditions in the marketplace change.
Customer Relations:
  • Supervise, direct and coordinate activities of staff engaged in the efficient and effective management of tanks and terminals functions.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the annual tanks and terminals strategy.
Other frequent duties:
  • Maintain a strong understanding of REG accounting procedures.
  • Recommend process improvements in record keeping, personnel, and procedures.
  • As new personnel demands arise for the department, educate, and coach new employees.
  • Participate in industry organizations and functions as required.
Expected Overnight Travel: 10% - 20% (possibly international travel)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Strong Communication & effectiveness with customers and co-workers (oral and written)

  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and in a timely manner
  • Thorough understanding of REG business Systems (OTM, J.D. Edwards, Salesforce)
  • Coordinate activities with procurement as well as inside and outside sales personnel
  • Analytical thinking to provide alternatives to situations
  • Possess the ability and competencies to effectively Manage and promote relationships, Facilitate change, execute a Game plan, Plan & Organize optimal work processes, build a cohesive and effective Team that is Customer Focused.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Preferred: 4 year bachelor's degree - Supply Chain Management, or related business degree

*5-6 years of experience may substitute

Experience Preferred: Greater than 5 years of office experience with transportation, infrastructure, and logistics background.

**Advanced education may substitute for some experience

Skills Required:

Advanced Excel skills

Strong math and accounting skills

Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio)

Special skills or knowledge preferred:

OTM (Oracle Transportation Management)

JD Edwards

Other Database systems

Knowledge in cost efficiency and vendor negotiations
