We, sterile processing technicians, prepare, sterilize, install and assemble all laboratory or healthcare equipment required for surgeries and other medical procedures. Our job tasks are to make sure that equipment, instruments, and supplies can be used again safely to avoid infections. We are assigned to perform tasks including decontamination, preparation, and distribution of surgical instruments. We distribute medical equipment and instrument to the surgery center. We perform all core job responsibilities in the sterile processing department. We are responsible for gaining and maintaining all necessary certifications.
