Position Summary:

Ultragenyx is looking for a contract Market Research and Analytics position that will be a key member of the Commercial Excellence group and work collaboratively with the Marketing Team to develop and execute on Market Research plans and studies. This position is responsible for delivering actionable market insights through market research/market analytics for the Ultragenyx North America Commercial Organization.

The Senior Manager or Associate Director, Market Research & Analytics will collaborate to support commercialization strategies for the current products as well as the pre-launch planning efforts across Ultragenyx portfolio. This individual will aid in designing, executing, and managing market research studies. They will collaborate with cross-functional partners within and outside of NA Commercial to identify critical business objectives and will develop and implement market research plans to address these key strategic issues. This individual will demonstrate leadership in translating research and data into actionable insights, engage diverse audiences, and possess strong analytical skills.

Work Model:

Flex: can complete work from home during the pandemic; once return to the office 2-3 days in office to be expected and established with manager

Remote: officially documented as working full time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other location on occasion as needed

Responsibilities:
    • Conduct market research projects to support the brand strategy, including identification of market research needs, design, and execution
    • Conduct primary market research projects, develop qualitative and quantitative market research studies with key stakeholders including opportunity assessments, market landscape, quarterly ATU, positioning & messaging, and strategic issues and exploration research
    • Use primary and secondary data sources to support business case development
    • Manage vendors to determine appropriate research methodology, ensure project alignment to business objectives, and guide execution and reporting
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders for the development and execution of the research materials
    • Manage projects within budgets, schedules, and corporate policies
    • Translate market research insights and data into actionable recommendations
    • Ability to develop and refine presentations to effectively communicate complex information clearly and concisely to a variety of internal stakeholders
    • Work closely with brand teams to understand business needs and shape research to address key business questions
    • Partner with other members of the Analytics Team to develop Key Performance Indicators
    • Build, manage and maintain relationships with key vendors of secondary analytics, secondary data, software, and consulting services
    • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, as well as US healthcare laws and regulations
Requirements:
    • Title commensurate with the number of years of experience in market research
    • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline with 6+ years of relevant experience
    • Experience with both qualitative and quantitative primary market research methodologies, including brand tracking, message testing, and positioning research
    • 4+ years of primary market research experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
    • Previous experience in either management consulting applied to pharma or biotech, or direct experience in the industry in an analytical role (e.g., Market Research, Marketing Science, Market Analytics) is a plus
    • Strong presentation skills with ability to effectively communicate complex information to all levels of the organization
    • Demonstrated excellence in project management and managing multiple demands/priorities from various internal customers
    • Working knowledge and experience with pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., prescription and sales data, patient claims data, promotional audits)
    • Experience managing vendors and consultants strongly preferred
    • Experience in Rare Diseases is a plus
    • Proven ability to work effectively as a team player within cross-functional teams
    • Flexible, diplomatic, and able to effectively deal with ambiguity

    • Current US work authorization required
