POSITION PURPOSE: This full-time position will report to the Tax Director. The Tax accountant will assist in the preparation or review of the Company’s tax filings across various tax jurisdictions the Company operates in. This includes the Company’s property tax and personal property tax returns, and other tax compliance matters as assigned by the Tax Director. This role will interface with various consultants and firms used by the Company. This role requires limited supervision and the individual should be able to schedule, plan, and establish their own priorities of the tasks they need to accomplish. The position is based out of the Company’s headquarters in Winchester, VA and is open to a hybrid/flexible work schedule.

Experience- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in property, personal property and unclaimed property.
Skills- Strong working knowledge of ERP/Accounting Applications and Tax Software.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills required.
- Experience with Tax Research Systems (CCH, RIA and/or BNA) required.
- Oracle and JDE experience preferred.
- A strong team player and a self-starter.
- Ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
- Resilient in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Education- BS or BA degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or other related field.
- CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Prepare the Company’s property tax, personal property tax and unclaimed property returns.
- Manage the resolution of any tax notices.
- Aid in training of other team members.
- Participate on cross functional teams as required.
- Commitment to organizational excellence and constant awareness to seek opportunities to improve processes/quality of deliverables.
- Ability to organize facts, analyze, interpret information, and perform research.
- Review adjusting journal entries, performs detailed account reconciliations, and completes workpapers for property tax accounts.
- Keep current on tax laws and research complex tax issues.
- Support Tax Director on ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned.
- Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Typically, this position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
