Join Scripps Health as Director, Risk & Patient Relations - Registered Nurse, where you will be accountable for hospital risk management services including developing, implementing, and coordinating the risk management plan. You will monitor the Occurrence Reporting System and implement risk mitigation and patient safety strategies. In addition, you will facilitate process improvement support with hospital departments, and provide claims management to include reduction and identification and claims monitoring. You will have authority to settle cases and /or is the liaison between claimant, attorneys, claims administrator and corporate legal counsel to move toward settlement.
Additionally, you will provide advocacy services to patients and/or family members who express concerns regarding hospital care or services. Coordinate Patient Rights chapter of the CAMH and supports patient rights issues (Title 22). Provide assessment, education, evaluation, and improvement of survey readiness through periodic performance reviews and action plans.
This position is located at Scripps Mercy San Diego and eligible to participate in the Director Incentive Plan.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
· BSN or related clinical healthcare education/experience plus five years acute care hospital or health care agency advocacy and/or Risk Management experience, at least one of which in leadership.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, written communication and presentation skills.
· Able to make others feel comfortable and inspire confidence quickly.
· Highly developed analytic capability and application of complex problem-solving techniques.
· Fluency in performance improvement methodology, applied statistical concepts, and information management.
· Demonstrated success in CAL survey process with demonstrated knowledge of JCAHO, Title 22 and other state and federal standards.
Required Certification/Registration:
· Current California RN if applicable.* *

· Previous customer satisfaction/customer relations experience, claims management experience.
· Masters degree.
· Fluent in Spanish.
