Job Description
Purpose: Assists in the preparation and review of components of the financial statements for the organizations assigned. This includes preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliation's, and reviewing transactions to ensure proper financial reporting in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America. Accounting specialists also act as liaisons with the organizations operational departments for specific financial questions or concerns.
Accountabilities:
Prepares and records journal entries in the general ledger, as assigned.
Ensures assigned reconciliation's and other financial reporting responsibilities are completed in an accurate, neat and timely manner with adequate support to ensure prompt reporting of data.
Monitors and reconciles detailed subsidiary ledgers to general ledger.
Acts as a liaison between departments, facilitates communications, and addresses issues accordingly.
Assists with the preparation of requested documentation during internal and external audits.
Performs administrative duties and other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Education Required: Associate's Degree in Accounting.
Experience Required:Typically requires 2 years of experience in accounting support.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel software, general ledger system, accounts payable system, misc. billing system, fixed asset system, and other accounting systems as appropriate.
Aptitude to work with detail accurately.
Possess analytical skills specifically in the area of financial reports.
Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively as a team member.
Capability to independently organize and prioritize the workload.
May require lifting up to 10 lbs. occasionally.
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
Exposed to normal office environment.

Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
Prepare adjusting journal entries.
Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
Report to management regarding the finances of establishment.
Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
Advise management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Maintain or examine the records of government agencies.
Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements.
Advise clients in areas such as compensation, employee health care benefits, the design of accounting or data processing systems, or long-range tax or estate plans.
Represent clients before taxing authorities and provide support during litigation involving financial issues.
Provide internal and external auditing services for businesses or individuals.
Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel and direct their work activities.
Appraise, evaluate, and inventory real property and equipment, recording information such as the description, value, and location of property.
Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
