JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of the IT Application Manager, the Application Coordinator/Analyst I is responsible for achieving knowledge of software and serving as a bridge between the end user operations and the Epic team. Reporting to a GBMC Application Manager for Epic applications, the Application Coordinator/Analyst I will be responsible for configuring their assigned application to support clinical and business needs, monitor system performance, testing build to ensure that it meets desired requirements, adhering to change control procedures and designing materials related to training for the delivery of education to users of the Epic system.

In addition, the Application Coordinator/Analyst I will be responsible for learning and adhering to the internal procedures that used in conjunction with vendor 3rd party applications; working as a liaison/specialist during all phases of system application implementations; troubleshooting problems or questions from users and resolving assigned helpdesk tickets; participation in on-call rotation required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional key responsibilities will be to demonstrate ability to devise simple benchmarking metrics to assess system performance. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the clinical or business operations functions. Gain increasingly abilities in data gathering, specifications development, and documentation and record keeping. Demonstrate basic degree of analytical skill and work under direct supervision in support of team initiatives.

Education

Associate Degree or higher education, or related applicable experience required. Professional certification(s) and/or related experience may substitute for formal education requirement. Medical Assistant, Registered Nurse, or Pharmacist certification/license preferred for clinical analyst applications.

Experience

Work experience in a professional environment or obtained through an internship/fellowship program.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Knowledge of implementing clinical and/or healthcare business information systems in a large-scale and complex healthcare organization.
Knowledge of the current healthcare environment.

Licensures, Certifications

Required to complete required training and pass certification in assigned Epic application module(s) within 120 days of employment in this role.

As EPIC application coordinators, we are responsible for the design, configuration, and maintenance of such applications for our organization. We need to have in-depth knowledge of the software functionalities, as well as the organization's work processes, in order to be able to tailor the application to business needs. We work together with multiple departments to design new workflows and build the system that supports them. We often participate in the training of and provide ongoing support to end users. We are usually either employed by healthcare organizations or consulting firms.
