Job Description:
SUMMARY OPERATIONS MANAGER (SHIFT) must be knowledgeable in all facets of the Distribution Center. Must be able to think on his/her feet and make sound decisions with the support of the Distribution Center Manager. Directs and coordinated activities of the DC management team and Team members by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.The overall mission of this position involves supplying auto parts and accessories to the Advance Auto Parts store locations. All Advance Auto Parts Team members will be required to assist in any department (other than their primary department) when and where their assistance is required.These departments may include: Shipping, Receiving, Replenishment Reclamation, Cycle Count, etc. WORK SCHEDULEFlexible to work in various shifts, departments and locations as required.Overtime as required.Weekends as required.Holiday’s as required.LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (OPERATIONS MANAGER: SHIFT) include the following, but not limited to these. The Operations Manager (Shift) may perform any number of duties and function on the shift. Assist Distribution Manager with daily operational duties.
Meet with Distribution Center Manager, Department Managers, and Department Supervisor to discuss and review the workload. Includes allocation of team members, discuss goals and objectives for the shift/department, and team member performance.
Is directly responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the departments on the shift.
Creates procedures for Management team.
Involved in the strategic planning for operations within the DC.
Budgeting / P & L, and staffing responsibilities.
Evaluate and support the Safety and Security, and HR Manager in policy and procedure enforcement.
Responsible for consistant evaluation of team member relations (internal equity, pay, policy etc.)
Meet with Operation Managers on other shifts to discuss production issues.
Conduct start-up meetings with team members to discuss day before results, today’s expectation, issues that need to be addressed, office/safety issues, work assignments for the day.
May be directly responsible for a DC department.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Address inventory shrink issues.
Keep the work-flow moving through the department as required.
Ensure the team members have all of the necessary tools to do their jobs.
Be constantly available in work location to assist as needed and resolve issues as required.
Regularly communicate with the facility management on issues that arise and be able to react as required.
Use equipment (pallet jack, forklift, order picker, reach truck, etc.)
Keeps work area neat, clean and hazard free.
Other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has supervisory responsibility. Directly or indirectly supervises all management, supervisors, and team members in the department. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training team members, planning, assigning, and directing work; writing and conducting performance appraisals; rewarding and counseling team members as appropriate; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Will have direct authority over one or more Department Managers.

Prior warehouse experience or training is strongly recommended and preferred. High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university preferred but not required. four to six years related experience and/or training; or some equivalent combination of education and experience.
