I carefully review each patient's dietary restrictions and follow the guidelines provided by the nutritionist or dietitian.
As dietary assistants, our roles include organizing and cooking food for persons in facilities as per nutritional requirements. We ensure that the kitchen working environment and kitchen equipment are clean and working properly. We also work to ensure that perfect hygiene standards are met in line with food safety and health regulations. We are responsible for keeping records of meals served and nutritional requirements of each individual to help physicians and dieticians to monitor health of the person. We are expected to educate clients on the nutritional importance of meals and food served and reason for portions served. We dietary assistants also monitor and track inventory and related expenses.
