POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting major projects ($100+ million per project) from early conceptual engineering through project completion. The Project Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and have responsibility for coordinating and providing technical support to define overall project engineering needs and scope development. The project engineer will work with the Project Manager and a team of in-house and contract employees to define overall project scope, develop a cost estimate and schedule, and complete final project construction and closeout. Projects will range in size from $100 million to $1 billion and will include both Capital and Expense work.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, team oriented individual. The position requires the ability to interface with numerous project teams, and additional departments outside of the Major Projects Group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Apply project management skills in all phases of project engineering from conception to closeout.
•Apply Engineering skills and knowledge in all phases of projects from conception to closeout. Review design drawings and specifications and coordinate input from stakeholders. Participate in technical reviews with engineers from contract firms and equipment suppliers.
•Manage multiple projects and assignments in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.
•Coordinate activities of multifunctional project teams consisting of owner and contract employees.
•Develop decision support packages (DSPs) for review and approval by the Refinery Leadership Team.
•Manage project scope, cost, and schedule to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
•Ensure that project scope is clearly defined and meets the requirements of the end users.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree is required in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in the refining or petrochemical industry is required.
· Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Project Engineer / Project Manager is required.
· Driver’s License is required.
· Travel up to 50% is required.
· Have a current and valid TWIC or provide proof within three weeks of offer acceptance that a TWIC will be issued by the US Government.
