Job Description

New Story Schools in Mountville, PA is seeking a qualified Academic and Behavior Support Staff, who will work collaboratively with Special Education teachers and Behavior Analysts to fulfill the individual curriculum and self-care needs of the students, while implementing behavior plans and protocols. Staff will support students in Autistic Support and Emotional Support classrooms Grades K-12. Position is full time M-F 8:15am-3:15pm, and includes paid holidays, school breaks (including summer breaks), and a comprehensive benefits package.

Pay Starting at $19/hr, based on experience!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the implementation of the students Individualized Education (IEP)
  • Assist students within the classroom/program setting during participation in special subjects such as Physical Education, Vocational programs, and Field trips.
  • Implement appropriate behavior management strategies and techniques.
  • Observe/Record data related to behavioral concerns to assess/monitor the progress of the student

  • 3+ months experience working in a school or program for individuals with special needs to which they are assigned
Education
Required
  • High School or better
Preferred
  • Bachelors or better in Psychology or related field
  • Bachelors or better in Human Services or related field

We, the behavior support specialists, provide support to people dealing with social issues like depression, anxiety, autism, etc. We treat individuals with behavioral issues to make them able to live a normal life. Also, we develop and implement treatment plans, maintain progress reports, and provide support to the patients. As behavior support specialists, we observe and assess the patients' behavior and maintain the patient's treatment reports. Communicating with patients' families to ensure that the treatment plans are working well is our responsibility as well.
