As the Head of Hawthorn Institute for Family Success within PNC's Private Bank.

This is a hybrid position which provides flexibility to work both in the office and remotely and is based within PNC's footprint with the exception of Colorado, Hawaii and Alaska. Certain job responsibilities may require time in the office on a regular basis.

The Head of the Hawthorn Institute for Family Success, a national practice, will oversee Hawthorn's suite of specialized services designed to help ultra-high net worth families navigate the complexities of multi-generational wealth. This leader will oversee advisors and consultants who collaborate closely with clients on strategies for addressing the complex personal, familial and financial dilemmas that can accompany significant wealth and that often determine its impact on current and future generations. We are looking for a leader with strengths in Family Dynamics and Governance; excellent writing skills; experience as a family facilitator and a background and degrees in the social sciences.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS/BA degree is required plus an additional certification or degree which could include a Ph.D., J.D., or other Masters degree, or equivalent work experience. A background and degrees in the social sciences is preferred.

8-10 years of professional experience in multi-generational family governance and wealth advising, and family enterprise advising. Experience in the financial services industry is a plus, but not required.

Foreign language skills are a plus, but not required.

Proven client-facing experience in a subject matter expert role.

Self-starter with entrepreneurial drive and demonstrated ability to achieve goals in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Polished written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively interact and influence a diverse set of business partners and ultra high-net-worth clients.

Collaborative team player, detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

Job Description

  • Direct, manage and develop strategic direction for the Institute for Family Success including creation of critical measurements of success.

  • Work directly with clients and prospects delivering the services of IFS including coaching and mentoring, customized family education, family meetings facilitation, family retreats and engagement exercises to allow for the sharing of family values, priorities, philanthropic goals, and family dynamics issues

  • Guide clients in integrating core values into wealth planning and decision making, translate vision and mission statements into applicable solutions. Guide families in the creation and implementation of successful family communication strategies governance structures and documents, including family assemblies, family councils, vision and mission statements, family constitutions and family bylaws. Specifically, past experience drafting document

  • Help clients and prospective clients navigate complex issues surrounding family businesses, succession planning and family enterprise governance.

  • Development and delivery of webinars, salons, workshops and legacy preservation strategies, as well as family assessments, retreats and coaching

  • Design and deliver education programs to aid in the leadership, stewardship development and preparing rising generation family members for not only managing abundance, roles and responsibilities they may inherit, but also various business, family and community roles they may wish to inhabit.

  • Author thought leadership research, white paper design and writing, and serve as a resource to banking leadership in support of families, family business, next generation resilience, and financial education

  • Works closely with other advisors and business line leaders across the company to facilitate integrated business development and service of the needs of families managing abundance

Work Experience Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree and higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications. Industry -relevant experience is typically 8+ years. At least 5 years of prior management experience is typically required. Proven leadership experience with a large scope of responsibility is required. Education Administrators Head of School
