Latin School of Chicago has a strong visual arts program, which is distinguished by its numerous extracurricular and elective possibilities, as well as its Global Studies: Visual Arts course. Because of the success of the parent-owned institution, it moved into its own facility in 1899 with an enrolment of more than 100 boys and was officially designated as Chicago Latin School. Another notable achievement is its Mickey and the Masters project, in which ninth-grade students, as a capstone to their study of the History of Western Painting, recreate master paintings, with the extra challenge of inserting Mickey Mouse as the principal character. In addition to having three campuses, the school has two galleries.
