The Wisconsin Humane Society has been saving the lives of animals in need for more than 140 years, having been founded in 1879. WHS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that runs animal shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Door, and Brown Counties, as well as a West Allis spay/neuter clinic. WHS helps 40,000 animals per year. They are not funded by the government and are not affiliated with any national umbrella group. As the state of Wisconsin's largest shelter. In any contact with people and animals, they are compassionate, polite, and kind. They are trailblazing, progressive, creative, constantly evolving, forward-thinking individuals who are proud to serve as role models for the best of animal welfare work. They are open to trying new things and rethinking old ways of doing things. Every day of their professional lives, they are dedicated to learning and developing.
