About VP OF Investor Relations

What does a VP OF Investor Relations do?

The investor relations (IR) function fills the communication gap between a publicly traded company and its investors by providing them with accurate financial information about the company. As VP of this function, we are responsible for defining the strategy for our organization’s IR story, and to lead all IR efforts. Representing the company to its investors, our goal is to achieve optimum share price and to enhance investor confidence. We are also responsible for making sure that IR activities are compliant to regulatory requirements. For this, we work together with the company’s accounting and legal departments. Most often, our role reports to the CFO.

Core tasks:

  • developing, planning, and executing a strategic IR program in order to achieve fair valuation
  • act as a control point for all financial information and messaging to investors, analysts, and other stakeholders
  • managing press releases, presentations, briefings, key investor conferences, etc.
  • managing relations with investors, Wall Street analysts, relevant regulatory agencies
  • ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
  • providing strategic counsel to executive team on key investor messages, business intelligence
  • managing relationships with Wall Street analysts
