Family Central, Inc. (FCI) was founded in 1971 to help working poor families that needed subsidized daycare. FCI has grown into an agency that serves over 18,000 people in South Florida each year through family strengthening, early learning initiatives, a food program, and educational training. It is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation and certified by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training. With the imminent departure of their long-serving CEO, the Board of Directors was tasked with determining FCI's strategic direction in 2018. FCI was bought by Kids In Distress, Inc. in January 2019 in an effort to creatively and cooperatively fulfil the ever-changing requirements within the child welfare system, providing for a greater continuum of care with lower administrative expenses. FCI is dedicated to fulfilling its objective of fostering healthy relationships and establishing nurturing communities for children and families.
