The founder of NPCA is Stephen Mather, and the association was established in 1919 as National Parks Association. NPCA consists of 1.4 million members, volunteers, policy experts, staff lobbyists, community organizers, and communications specialists who are thoroughly supporting, contributing, and working together to protect and preserve the nation's most iconic and inspirational parks and places.
