Special Olympics is a global movement of people working to create a new world of inclusion and community in which everyone, regardless of ability or handicap, is embraced and welcomed. Since 1968, Special Olympics has changed lives and attitudes by growing from a home summer program for people with intellectual disability to a global movement. One athlete, one volunteer, one family member at a time, it is helping to make the world a better, healthier, and more happy place. Special Olympics' mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, show courage, allowing them to maintain physical fitness, experience joy, and share gifts, friendship and skills with their families. For 5 years I volunteered helping those special kids do there amazing work. Helping those kids is one of the greatest thing I have ever done.

I was a young college student who also served for ameri corps at the time . I was fortunate to be introduced to this program were I worked summers and spring break with amazing students and other coaches creating an experience with these children was a pleasure. I love making a difference .

Pros and Cons
Building my resume working with children with special needs .
Only worked for a couple weeks at a time . Hopefully by now the program extended .
