If you like being just another number, then this is the job for you. Be prepared to give up 2 days off in a row, any semblance of a normal schedule and any form of rhyme or reason from upper management.

I enjoyed the customer’s the most. 85% of the staff were pretty good to work with and the benefits were not bad. But this is a position where if you are a single / divorced parent, you better have a STRONG support system. I was not aware going into the position that they had full intentions of filling a closing shift. They were not forthcoming with hours nor rate of pay which were brought up by myself several occasions. When I put in my notice, the area mgr did not even call, email or stop by to talk about what they could have done to keep me on. I had a large customer base because I grew up in this town and pretty much knew everyone.

Could not build commercial so they bought Carquest. Substituted crappy Adv parts for a Carquest sticker. Tried to buy Interstate battery, now own the Diehard name. Never willing to work a program to make it better, throw cash at it and let the sheeple follow.

Was there for could not wait to leave. Field management rich people in the store like their second class citizens. Field leadership 0 retail experience they are all old mechanics which is fine but have no idea how to run a business.

Worked hard only to be told that I only mangers. Exempt employees could be full time. Worked 2 stores. To get hours. Was only given 12-10pm shifts. I quit.

I was a senior in high school who could not tell you the first step in changing a tire. By the end of my 18 month spell at AAP I was changing my own oil and performing tune ups for some side money. I learned so much from the people there and improved my sales skills (which is the main aspect of the job). Whether you know about cars or not is irrelevant; there is enough training on the computer to keep you busy as well as enough customer/co worker knowledge to pick up on.

I have been able to work with 15 plus stores helping them send and receive the parts they need on a daily basis. I help the other associates in my store pull orders and put away new stock. I adjust stock quantities as needed. I also reset shelf tags and/or arrange stock as needed.

I worked here as a fill-in job, after working in several office environments. Working in a Law Firm and for an Insurance group were much more upbeat than with this company. The level of appreciation for staff is very low here for the most part.
