Competing in the American Football Conference (AFC) West Division, Kansas City Chiefs is a National Football League (NFL) team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The team was founded in 1960 by the name of Dallas Texans by the American businessman Lamar Hunt as a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). The team relocated to Kansas City in 1963 and was named Kansas City Chiefs. Valued at around $2 billion, the team’s current chairman and CEO is Clark Hunt (Hunt’s son). The team joined the NFL in 1970 as a result of a merger. The Chiefs won three AFL championships in the 1960s (1962, 1966, and 1969), and were the only the second team after New York Jets to defeat an NFL team in the AFL-NFL World Championship Game claiming victory over Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV.
